Before I tell you what hypnosis is, let me tell you what it is not

Hypnosis is not sleep.

Yes, hypnotists frequently use the word sleep to explain this state because it is a concept that is easily grasped by everyone. We all know and love sleep.

Hypnosis is not oblivion.

You are not unconscious nor are you unaware. Although, you are resting, relaxing, with your eyes closed, you are anything but unconscious or unaware.

What hypnosis is

Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness.

In the hypnotic trance, you are aware of everything going on around you. You still hear my voice. You are aware of every word I say. You may even be aware of people talking, cars passing, motors running, or the phone ringing. You may feel the chair touching the back of your ears. You may feel the pressure points of your body resting against the cushions. You may feel the breeze from the air conditioning vent blowing across your body. This is a lifetime away from sleep!

Hypnosis is a deep state of concentration.

It is a normal human condition which we all go into and out of several times a day. Almost anyone can be hypnotized. Have you ever been really engrossed in reading a book then looked up at the clock and thought, "Good grief! I've been sitting here for three hours!"? This is a hypnotic trance. Have you ever been so focused on a project that you were startled when someone touched you? This is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a state of physical and mental relaxation.

Have you ever leaned back in your chair, closed your eyes and just drifted - dimly aware of what was going on around you but ignoring it? When you opened your eyes again, you felt refreshed. That is self hypnosis.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.

The hypnotist, the hypnotherapist is just your guide. You allow yourself to relax. You allow yourself to review, recall, relive events. By following the guidance and accepting the suggestions of the hypnotists, great change in your perceptions, in your life can be effected.

Is Hypnosis a cure all? A quick fix? A panacea for all problems?

No. But it can achieve many wonderful results. Working hand in hand with both traditional and other alternative processes, many miracles can be achieved.

Thanks!!!
